How is a custom silicone prosthesis made? From consultation to delivery in three visits

A custom silicone prosthesis at Silobionic is completed in three standard visits. First, we cast your affected area and your other hand and measure your skin tone digitally. Second, you try a check socket (a temporary trial socket) to confirm fit and shape. Third, you receive your finished prosthesis. The full process takes about 4–6 weeks; express production takes 1–2 weeks.
Visit 1 — We listen, cast and measure your skin tone
Your first visit starts with a conversation. We ask not only about your affected area, but about your work, your hobbies and what you most want to do again. Two people with the same loss rarely need the same prosthesis. Family members are welcome to join.
- Casting — we take moulds of your affected area and of your other hand. Shaping the prosthesis from your own hand is what makes the pair look natural together.
- Skin-tone measurement — an E-SKIN scanner (SPECTROMATCH, UK) measures your skin tone digitally, and we mix custom pigments from that reading.
- Nails — we take a mould of the matching nail on your other hand and make it with our patented nail-making method.

Visit 2 — A check socket comes first
A check socket is a temporary socket you wear before the final prosthesis is made. It lets us confirm comfort, grip and shape early, and adjust anything that needs it — so the finished prosthesis needs fewer corrections.
We also confirm your chosen colour at this stage. If adjustments are needed, there may be one more short visit to check them; if not, we move straight on.
Visit 3 — You receive your finished prosthesis
You try on the finished prosthesis and we walk you through use, cleaning and care. We keep your production records, so any future adjustment or remake does not start from scratch.

How long does it take?
| Stage | Time |
|---|---|
| Fabrication — finger | 7–10 days |
| Fabrication — full hand | About 15 days |
| Consultation to delivery | About 4–6 weeks (three standard visits) |
| Express production | 1–2 weeks |
Timelines depend on your affected area and the type of prosthesis. We confirm your schedule during the consultation.
Travelling to Korea for your prosthesis?
If you are coming from abroad, send us photos and tell us about your case first. We confirm your schedule during an online consultation in English, before you book travel. Whether express production suits your case depends on the affected area and the product.
What happens after delivery?
Silicone prostheses can wear with daily use. We provide after-sales support while you use your prosthesis, and if a repair is not possible, we will guide you through a remake. Because your records are kept, a remake does not start from zero.
Frequently asked questions
Will a silicone prosthesis look exactly like my real hand?
We aim for a result that is difficult to tell apart from a real hand, but results vary from person to person. We photograph every before-and-after under the same conditions, with a standard colour chart and no retouching, so you can see real results as they are.
How many visits do I need?
The standard process is three visits: casting and skin-tone measurement, a check-socket fitting, and delivery. If the check socket needs adjusting, there may be one more short visit.
What is a check socket?
A temporary socket you wear before the final prosthesis is made. It confirms comfort and shape early, so the finished prosthesis needs fewer corrections.
How do you match my skin tone?
An E-SKIN scanner (SPECTROMATCH, UK) measures your skin tone digitally, we mix custom pigments from that reading, and details such as veins, freckles and moles are hand-painted.
How long does it take?
Fabrication alone takes 7–10 days for a finger and about 15 days for a full hand. From consultation to delivery it takes about 4–6 weeks; express production takes 1–2 weeks.
