Lost a finger and reattachment was not possible? What are your options?

If a finger could not be reattached, or time has passed since the injury, a custom silicone finger prosthesis can restore the shape, skin tone and nail of the finger. We make them for anything from a single fingertip to several fingers or part of a hand, in three standard visits, taking about 4–6 weeks from consultation to delivery (1–2 weeks with express production). Whether surgery such as reattachment is possible is for your doctor to decide; a prosthesis is a separate option you can choose.
Is there an alternative to reattachment?
After a finger injury, most people think of reattachment surgery first. Whether surgery is possible is a medical decision, and for some people reattachment was not an option, or the finger was left shorter or differently shaped afterwards.
In those cases, a silicone finger prosthesis fits over what remains of the finger and restores its appearance. It does not bend on its own; its purpose is to look natural when both hands are side by side.
Which areas can be covered? Five cases
| Case | Area lost | Prosthesis made |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tip of the little finger | Finger prosthesis |
| 2 | Two joints of the little finger | Finger prosthesis |
| 3 | Tips of the index and middle fingers | A separate prosthesis for each finger |
| 4 | Part of the hand | Partial-hand prosthesis |
| 5 | Tip of the middle finger | Finger prosthesis |
Below are the before-and-after photos for cases 3 and 4. We take every before-and-after under the same conditions, with a standard colour chart and no retouching.

In case 3, our customer had lost the tips of the index and middle fingers on one hand. We made a prosthesis for each finger, matching the length and nail shape of the other hand (the after photo is at the top of this page).

When several fingers and part of the hand are lost together, as in case 4, we make a partial-hand prosthesis rather than individual fingers. We aim for a result that is difficult to tell apart from a real hand, but results vary from person to person.
What are the steps?
| Visit | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1 | We look at your affected area and talk it through. If you decide to go ahead, we take moulds of your affected area and your other hand and measure your skin tone with an E-SKIN scanner (SPECTROMATCH, UK). |
| 2 | You try a check socket (a temporary trial prosthesis) and we review comfort, skin tone and size together, then make any changes. |
| 3 | You try on the finished prosthesis and we walk you through use and care. |
Fabrication alone takes 7–10 days for a finger and about 15 days for a full hand. From consultation to delivery takes about 4–6 weeks, or 1–2 weeks with express production, depending on your affected area and the product. If you are travelling to Korea, we confirm your schedule in an online consultation before you book.
Why do you take a mould of the other hand too?
A mould of the affected area alone gives a prosthesis that fits, but not one that matches when your hands are side by side. The thickness, knuckle creases and nail shape of your other hand are the reference, so we mould both. The nail is made with our patented nail-making method.
What about aftercare?
Silicone prostheses can wear with daily use. We provide after-sales support while you use your prosthesis, and if a repair is not possible we will guide you through a remake. Because your production records are kept, a remake does not start from scratch.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a finger prosthesis if I never had reattachment surgery?
Yes. We make the prosthesis to fit whatever remains, whether or not surgery took place. Whether surgery is possible is a medical decision; a prosthesis is a separate way to restore appearance.
Can you make one if I have only lost a fingertip?
Yes. We make prostheses for anything from a single fingertip to several fingers or part of a hand.
Can a silicone finger prosthesis bend?
No, it does not bend on its own; its focus is appearance. If a finger has been completely lost and you need grip, a functional finger prosthesis may be worth discussing.
How many visits do I need?
The standard process is three visits: casting and skin-tone measurement, a check-socket fitting, and delivery. From consultation to delivery takes about 4–6 weeks.
